Privacy Policy
Effective February 16, 2026
MyZipQuest ("we," "us," or "our") is an educational product that generates Minecraft worlds from real-world map data, paired with parent activity guides. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it — especially for families with children.
What We Collect
From Parents (Website)
- Email address — to send invite codes, download links, and product updates.
- ZIP code (optional) — to generate your neighborhood's Minecraft world.
We do not collect names, phone numbers, physical addresses, or payment information directly. Payment processing, when available, is handled by third-party processors (e.g., ClassWallet, Stripe) who maintain their own privacy policies.
From the Minecraft Server (Beta)
When a player connects to our beta Minecraft server, the server automatically logs:
- Minecraft username (tied to their Mojang/Microsoft account)
- IP address (a persistent identifier under COPPA)
- Connection timestamps (join/leave times)
We do not collect chat messages (public chat is disabled on our server). We do not install analytics or telemetry plugins.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
MyZipQuest is designed for families with children ages 6–14. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- We do not collect personal information directly from children on our website. Only parents interact with our website forms.
- When a child connects to our Minecraft server, their IP address and username are logged as described above. A parent or guardian must provide consent before their child is granted server access.
- We do not use children's data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the Minecraft server.
- Parents may request deletion of their child's data at any time by emailing us (see Contact below).
How We Use Your Data
- Email — to send your invite code, download links, and occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- ZIP code — to generate a Minecraft world for your area. We do not share your ZIP code with third parties.
- Server logs — to operate the Minecraft server, troubleshoot issues, and maintain security (e.g., banning abusive players).
Data Retention
- Parent email addresses — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- Minecraft server logs (IP addresses, connection times) — automatically deleted after 30 days.
- World files and activity guides — retained as long as your account is active or your download link is valid.
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate MyZipQuest:
- Supabase — database hosting (stores email addresses and ZIP codes)
- Vercel — website hosting
- Resend — transactional email delivery
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any behavioral advertising tools. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Cookies
We use a single, essential cookie (ba_beta_access) to verify beta access after you enter an invite code. This cookie contains no personal information — only a cryptographic token. It expires after 30 days. We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies.
Security
Our Minecraft server requires authentication through Mojang/Microsoft's servers (online-mode=true), which means players must use a legitimate, licensed Minecraft account. Microsoft accounts for children under 13 require parental setup through Microsoft Family Safety. Beta server access is whitelisted — only approved players can connect.
Your Rights
You may, at any time:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you or your child.
- Request deletion of your data or your child's data.
- Unsubscribe from email communications.
- Withdraw consent for your child's server access.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
